Dog Trainer Insurance

Person Training a DogBusiness Insurers of the Carolinas has been specializing in insurance for dog trainers since 2001, and we understand that a trainer's insurance needs differ from those of other small businesses. By working directly with the largest pet care associations and their members for almost 25 years, we have gained a unique understanding of the types of claims that occur in the industry and what is needed to be properly covered. Each year we refine and enhance our association liability programs based on the feedback we receive from our clients.

What We Offer

Whether you offer individual or group basic obedience training, or specialize in advanced training types such as search and rescue, therapy, service dog training or agility training, Business Insurers has the right insurance plan for your dog training business.

What We Cover

As a Trusted Choice Independent Insurance Agency, Business Insurers works with many insurance companies who provide coverage to pet professionals just like you. We offer a full array of coverage options including the broadest liability protection available and optional coverage endorsements for daycare/kennel/boarding, pet sitting, grooming, and therapy dogs. Below are more details on the main coverages we offer:

  • General Liability Insurance protects trainers against third party claims for bodily injury or property damage arising from negligence on behalf of you and/or your employees.
  • Care, Custody or Control provides coverage for the client's pets and client's personal property in your care, custody or control. This also covers pets while in transport in a vehicle, pet taxi or other means. This policy covers all independent contractors, employees and volunteers. Veterinary medical expenses are also included under CCC coverage and the policy pays claims regardless of the negligence/fault for accidental injuries to pets.
  • Bonding to protect against dishonest acts committed by you, your employees or independent contractors such as theft of property or money.
  • Workers Compensation provides coverage for occupational injuries sustained by your employees (and depending on state you live in, your independent contractors) for:
    • On the job injuries that occur "in the course of employment" (Ex. Dog Bite)
    • Occupational Diseases that result from employment (Ex. Carpel Tunnel or Rabies)
    • Employer's Liability that is excluded from Employment (Ex. Spouse or family member of employee sues alleging loss of consortium, etc. due to employer negligence)
    • Workers Compensation also covers medical bills, loss wages and indemnity payments.
  • Commercial Auto protects against bodily injury or property damage to a third party (person or vehicles) caused by your business-owned or leased vehicle(s). Non-Owned Auto coverage covers your business against claims arising from auto accidents involving your employees and/or independent contractors' personal vehicles.
  • Commercial Property / Inland Marine (Equipment) covers your building and/or business personal property from loss against named perils such as windstorm, hail, fire, explosion, vandalism, theft, etc. Inland Marine provides coverage for training equipment regardless of where you choose to train.
  • Employment Practices Liability to insure against discrimination and/or harrassment in the workplace, including third party coverage.

We understand that no two dog training businesses are alike - our aim is to educate each business on all of the various coverage options available and assist in obtaining the proper coverage for your business before the claim occurs!
